Every detail of C&J's wedding was a testament to their thoughtfulness and vision, brought to life flawlessly by Luxe Design & Decor. From the lush floral arrangements and personalized name cards to the elegant linens and thoughtful ceremony signage, every element was meticulously curated. As a photographer, it’s pure joy to capture such beautifully crafted details, each one adding a unique layer to their unforgettable day.
C&J chose to start their day with a first look, and what better place than the stunning fountain at the entrance of Willow Heights Mansion? This picturesque spot set the perfect romantic scene for such a heartfelt moment. When they saw each other for the first time on their wedding day (and let’s be real, they both looked absolutely incredible), they exchanged private vows. Between the laughter, happy tears, and sweet words, you could feel the shift as their nerves gave way to excitement—just one of the many perks of a first look before the ceremony!
Opting for a first look also gave C&J the chance to jump straight into family formals afterward. They were eager to get these portraits done before the ceremony, ensuring they could fully enjoy cocktail hour with their guests before the festivities kicked into high gear. For them, it was the perfect decision—and a brilliant way to maximize time with their loved ones.
With the first look and family formals complete, it was time for C&J to be tucked away as guests began to arrive—no sneaking a peek at the bride before the ceremony! While they each took a quiet moment to prepare for the next chapter of their day, I seized the opportunity to capture a few getting-ready portraits. Willow Heights Mansion provided the perfect backdrop for these moments; both the bridal suite and the groom’s suite were impeccably decorated and blissfully free of clutter, making them ideal spaces to capture these moments.
And then, it was time for the ceremony to begin—and what a beautiful ceremony it was! With the groom’s father officiating, the atmosphere was a perfect mix of heartfelt emotion and lighthearted laughter. Guests (myself included) found themselves alternating between wiping tears and cracking smiles. Honestly, he was so good at officiating that I couldn’t resist asking if he’d be up for doing the honors at my own wedding someday. I wonder if he’ll still take me up on that offer in five years!
As the guests kicked off cocktail hour, C&J stole away for a quick five-minute portrait session with me before joining the fun. We captured a mix of timeless, elegant poses along with a few lighthearted, playful shots—saving the extra fun prompts for their golden hour session later. With those portraits checked off, they were free to mix, mingle, and soak in the celebration with their guests—one of the moments they were most looking forward to. And, of course, that led to some fantastic candid shots!
Then it was time to really get the party going and C&J made their grand entrance, setting the tone for an unforgettable reception. After dinner and before the night’s festivities kicked into full swing, they shared a quiet, intimate moment to cut their cake—just the two of them. With dinner plates cleared and glasses filled, it was time for the toasts, and just like during the ceremony, we were all laughing one minute and tearing up the next. The heartfelt words and cherished stories from their siblings were truly touching. Once the final toast was made and glasses were emptied, it was time for the formal dances. C&J took the floor first for their first dance as newlyweds, followed by emotional parent dances with which they chose to share the dance floor for - something I always love to see as a wedding photographer!
Oh, and side note—if you’ve never had the food at Willow Heights Mansion, you are seriously missing out. Hands down, some of the best wedding food I’ve ever had!
As golden hour arrived, C&J slipped away from the reception for a few portraits in the dreamy sunset light. And wow—what a golden hour it was. The sun cast the most beautiful glow over the valley, creating a breathtaking backdrop for their portraits. It was pure magic, the kind of light photographers dream about, and the perfect setting for capturing their love.
Cassandra and Jalal’s wedding day was nothing short of extraordinary—filled with love, laughter, and moments that will be cherished for a lifetime. From their heartfelt first look to their golden hour portraits and every joyful celebration in between, it was a day that perfectly reflected who they are as a couple. Being able to document such a beautiful love story in such a stunning setting was truly an honor. Cheers to C&J!
